Developing your PLN (Personal/Professional/Personalized Learning Network) with LinkedIn
Developing your PLN (Personal/Professional/Personalized Learning Network) with LinkedIn
Participants should be able to develop their professional online presence, grow their professional network, and use the job search feature (https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/). They should also be able to find groups, and free educational articles and resources. LinkedIn is the main professional networking site that helps its users “establish network connections with other professionals in [an] industry to create a plethora of business opportunities” (FindabilityGroup, n.d.). Having a LinkedIn profile helps build a teacher’s credibility (Pino, 2013). A challenge with the platform is that it can be intimidating to first-time users. It is a professional website, so communication is more formal (compared to Twitter or other social media platforms). Teachers can network with other TESOL educators, get updated news from TESOL groups (e.g. TESOL Association), and find job opportunities.
