Whilst Skyping Frank this morning, I had a weird experience (and no, nothing to do with Frank per se!!).  Initially, I seemed unable to make contact with him, until a short text message appeared telling me that he could hear me, but that he had no mic. to speak into.  We then had a 20 minute exchange (not sure whether one can call it a 'conversation') whereby I spoke and he typed.  The 'weird' thing was the lack of feedback - or minimality (?) of feedback - that this provided to me, the speaker, and the consequent sense that the conversation/exchange is incomplete.
